Joe Strummer (born John Graham Mellor) was not raised in a religious household, but his mother was a Scottish Presbyterian and his father was raised as an Armenian Christian.
Joe’s grandmother on his fathers side (who died many years before Joe Strummer was born) was indeed Jewish, but that is about as close as Strummer had to Jewish ancestory, and was never exposed to any serious amount of any religion growing up.
