# Best laid plans go to waste

So a while back I challenged myself to work 100 consecutive days at work. The goal was to save up as much money as possible in case I got laid off this summer.

I jynxed myself :smack: After only about 3 weeks of working without a day off, I was already starting to feel burnt out. Saturday/Sundays were my ‘early’ days. Friday night I went out with friends. Saturday I was tired but still able to crawl out of bed at 5 in the morning and get ready for work. I went to bed early Saturday night to make up for the lost sleep. On Saturday/Sundays I’m supposed to report to work at 6:58 AM.

Sunday morning I wake up without my alarm. The sun is also out… not good! I look at my clock, and its 7:45! :eek: Taking that as a sign, I called in sick (so I could take the rest of the day off but still get paid for it) and had a very nice day off. Of course, having one day of freedom has made me lose a taste for working some marathon. I’m still planning on working days off, just not EVERY single one!

It was the first time I was late in a year and a half- had I continued showing up to work on time until April 1 I would’ve had perfect attendance for the quarter (we get an extra vacation day for every quarter of perfect attendence) but I blew it at the very end. Oh well.
