There is a thread on another board (yes Virginia, there are other boards) that has devolved (evolved?) into cool old movie posters. I’m sure The Dope can do better. My favorites so far: [The Abominable Dr. Phibes](http://a21.idata.over-blog.com/1/22/65/73/Affiches-n--2/Abominable_Dr_Phibes.jpg) and [Attack of the 50 Foot Woman](http://i2.listal.com/image/36831/600full-attack-of-the-50-ft.-woman-poster.jpg). The posters don’t _have_ to be from old movies. They just have to be good. Also-- a link to the poster, please. Dopers are pretty good at describing things with words but I’d like to actually see the poster. Thanks! ---

[Africa Speaks](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Speaks!) is bizarre. Here is an even more bizarre advertizing display at the [Capital Theater](http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/whi/fullRecord.asp?id=19970&qstring=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wisconsinhistory.org%2Fwhi%2Fresults.asp%3Fpageno%3D3%26keyword1%3Dmovie%26search_type%3Dbasic%26sort_by%3Ddate) 1930. There are some pretty interesting posters for plays. One is a lady on a log in a sawmill. Save me! ---

Note that the poster for [Forbidden Planet](http://www.moviegoods.com/large_detail.asp?http://www.moviegoods.com//Assets/product_images/1020/142804.1020.A.jpg)doesn’t actually portray any scene in the movie. ---

I love that **Brazil** poster, but I’ve never owned one. I don’t know why, since it’s my favorite movie. I have [this Subway-sized poster of Werner Herzog’s Nosferatu](http://www.robotvsbadger.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/nosferatu_1979_poster_01.jpg) hanging in my kitchen. Not as cool, but a bit bizarre, I also have [this poster hanging in my kitchen](http://images.moviepostershop.com/bliss-movie-poster-1985-1020244160.jpg), except that mine is for the [original movie](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bliss_%281985_film%29), not the video. It’s for Ray Lawrence’s [1985 movie Bliss](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088821/). It’s stupid and cool at the same time. Except for the elephant sitting on the car it has almost nothing from the movie itself. The man doesn’t look like [Harry Joy](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_S1CYCKBQ3xw/TEOmFwu95sI/AAAAAAAARf4/pz3UvCx9s9Q/s1600/Harry+Joy+1.jpg) (Barry Otto) and the woman is nothing like [Honey Barbara](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S1CYCKBQ3xw/TEOmFT7aLJI/AAAAAAAARfo/NvFf8n5gx-I/s1600/Honey+Barbara+1.jpg) (Helen Jones). It’s almost as if the poster was made before the movie was even cast, perhaps from the [book](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bliss_%28novel%29) (which I haven’t read). I like it anyway because it reminds me of one of my favorite movies and any Bliss poster is hard to come by. This picture is on the [DVD](http://www.chnp2p.com/viewthread.php?tid=178515) just because it’s a dramatic-looking 5 second-dream scene, but again not having much to do with the rest of the movie. The whole thing is on YouTube. **Bliss** also has a great tagline: “After Harry Joy dropped dead… his life was never the same again.”) ---
