No idea how the votes will go on this one; I was going to give it to Portishead, but since I’ve already voted for them I think I’ll go with No Age.

I voted for the Hold Steady. A strong album, and “Sequestered In Memphis” is a great song.

Yes! I really like that album, though I’m very mildly surprised it actually made the critics list. He often seems to slip just below the radar.

None if the above. My favorite albums from that year, any of such would appeal to the Pazz and Jop folks, include:

Chiwoniso, _Rebel Woman_  
Stew and the Negro Problem, _Passing Strange cast album_  
Bonnie Prince Billy, _Lie Down in the Light_  
Plastilina Mosh, _All U Need is Mosh_
