Fergus and Dil in The Crying Game. I think there are a lot of male couples because of the strong taboo against homosexuality. That makes the obsticale to consummation practically insurmountable with mainstream fiction. ---

Before the films existed, I thought there was something odd between Merry and Pippin, but never between Frodo and Sam. See Frodo and Sam are the epitome of the officer and batman relationships within the WW1 ( and earlier ) UK army which were never unconsumated love affairs (even if the officer and/or batman were gay, they would both seek out partners within the same social niche, not have interest in each other). ---

Oooh, a reply directly to me! Thanks, \*\*Skald \*\* I’m new to this (message boards in general, SDMB specifically), and that made me feel kind of…special. You were my first, I’ll never forget you…perhaps I need to get out more. I’m not familiar with “fanwank” though I’m assuming it means what I think it does. Where can I read this, it sounds like fun? My theory on Fonzie and Mrs. C was along the lines that he couldn’t get the Mrs. so he attempted to do the rest of Milwaukee in a sad attempt to fill in the void by not getting the sexy mom-type. But, he did live over the Cunningham garage, which is quite a convenient love shack while Howard was at work so your ex just may have something there. ---

There is an outrageous outtake with Fonzie & Mr & Mrs C in the Cunningham’s living room. Fonzie starts putting the moves on Mrs C, and The C’s just keep carrying on till finally Mrs C & Fonzie are locked in a big wet kiss. How Tom Bosley kept a straight face is beyond me. ---
