Drive capacity is growing at a rate faster than most people can consume it. My 8Gb iPhone is big _enough_ to easily handle my needs away form the 320 Gb drive in my laptop…what happens when the _cheap_ iPhone has 320 Gb and a 5 MB/s pipe to the internet?

Sorry for the tangent, but I got a new dell with 160 Gigs.. my old laptop had 30.. wow, I’ll never use that much! That’ll last me forever!

A month into it and I had 70 or so filled.. 2 months and I was up to 130.

(and no.. it wasn’t porn)

I had to get an external TB drive and burn LOTS of data to dvd to keep THAT from getting filled up. Way different mindset than 2004 when I had my laptop stolen.

(back to your regularly scheduled thread)

For a little less money (and a little less storage, but future upgradability) you could get a drobo and 4 1 Tb drives:

But you’d only get 2.7 Tb of available storage space.

You’re swinging for the fences with that 6 Tb requirement. You can do it, but it’ll cost…and 4 years from now, you’ll buy a 6 Tb drive for $120 at Best Buy.

That’s a nifty and convenient piece of hardware!

**puts it on wish list**
