Right, I need a few lines of text for my final year art catalogue, the text will go next to a lovelly photograph of my work so I look to you guys to help me…

I am looking for suggestions of quotes, lines form songs, your own personal philosophy, anything that is around 100 words of text max!
I hope for something whimsical yet serious, funny yet profound, irreverent yet apt…

I always liked Genesis 2:25 in The Bible.

It’s appropriate for almost anything…

Two of my favorites:

“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”

- Ben Franklin

“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

- The Beatles

Anyone have definitive proof that the Franklin quote is legit? If you know for a fact it is not then I almost don’t want to hear it, but you gotta fight ignorance.

A bit dated now, there being only one superpower, but I rather like this from Mr Einstein.

Also, one from Joseph Stalin, circa WWII I think:

Life is like a box of chocolates. It’s a cheap thoughtless perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you ever get back is another box of chocolates, so you’re stuck with this unidentifiable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there’s nothing left to eat. Sure, once in a while there’s a peanut butter cup or an English toffee, but they’re gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with up with nothing but broken bits with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. If you’re desperate enough to eat that, all you have left is an empty box filled with useless brown paper wrappers."
Cancer Man, Musings of a cigarette-smoking man, The X-Files

“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me also remind you that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”
Barry M Goldwater

Until one is commited, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Begin it now.

“The details of my life are quite inconsequential…My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy… the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical… summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we’d make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds… pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum… it’s breathtaking, I suggest you try it.”
