This brings to mind the song **Amour** \[1\], by the Warning, a Mexican band writing in English, and sticking some pretty good French lyrics into the middle of the song:

_Je t’aime pour toujours /_ _Mon coeur est tien_ _/_ _Je te deteste_ _/_ _Amour de ma vie_ _/_ _Je ne mens pas_ _/_ _Je t’adore_

Translates as:

_I love you forever /_ _My heart is yours_ _/_ _I hate you_ _/_ _Love of my life_ _/_ _I am not lying_ _/_ _I adore you_

[1] Inspired by a love scene in the movie Ratatouille

> _Was shining like a National guitar_

I put this album on for the first time in a while yesterday, this lyric hit, and I thought “this is a killer of a metaphor to open a song with. I should post it to that thread on the SDMB!” I see that @Dr_Paprika has posted a lot of lines from this album in the thread and I support their inclusion. Paul Simon is a master, Graceland is one of the greatest albums ever, and pretty much every song in Simon’s catalog has evocative lyrics in one form or another.
