Nope, not my thread.

Rolling Stones: “Shattered”
Queen: “We Are The Champions”
The Who: “Won’t Get Fooled Again”
The Beatles: Too many to name, and I’ve never even been a big Beatles fan.
@Czarcasm, are you collating these results?
I thought mmm was going to do it.

Good choice for the Beatles. I picked Sgt. Pepper’s originally, but came back to mention All You Need.
P.S. Love your name.
Thanks. I should know The Beatles.
From Mrs Oly
Gimme Shelter
Bohemian Rhapsody
Gettin In Tune (I played it for her her first time)
Carry That Weight
Nah, I’d have probably gone with “I Must Be In Love” which seems to be a perfect blend of the songs in the Beatles’ 1964-66 period, rather than parodying any particular song.
Now my favorite Rutles song is “Piggy in the Middle” but of course the thread isn’t about favorites.
I know you know what you know
but you should know by now that you’re not me…
(Just in case anyone’s wondering which Beatles song is being parodied)
Shouldn’t that be “tabulating”, rather than “collating”?
Stones- Gimmie Shelter
Queen- Sheer Heart Attack
Who- Slip Kid (It’s a deep cut, but I think it captures the essence of the band well)
Beatles- Get Back
Sadly, that song and the rest of the songs on the first Rutles album are technically cowritten by Lennon and McCartney courtesy of the lawyers at ATV music.
Fortunately, I still own a copy of the original Rutles LP, which still says “All selections written by Neil Innes.”
I named my dog Winston after him.
Street Fighting Man
Somebody to Love
Won’t Get Fooled Again
Lovely Rita
My Rutles CD has the songs credited to Neil as well. Did the LP come with the “Rutlemania!” poster insert?
I hereby change my Rolling Stone vote from “Gimme Shelter” to “Tumbling Dice.” I love both songs, but after extensive thought, and consultation with my think tank, I feel the latter is better representative of the Stones’ overall work.
Carry on. That is all.
No, it came with an 18-page booklet. ![]()
