# Best sites for meeting new people (not ones you already know).

So, I love chatrooms and such. BUT. I’ve had a hard time finding ones that are:

a) Actually active.

b) Actually for meeting new people, not just adding people you already know.

I’m not looking for the new Facebook, or some different variant of Myspace. I’m just looking for some site that’s similar to [Teenspot.com](http://Teenspot.com) or [Chatrefuge.com](http://Chatrefuge.com) or something like one of those.

P.S. I prefer chatrooms over forums. But I still need forums I can frequent in school. School blocked chat software. ;-;

I can’t help with chatrooms, but try [Meetup.com](http://Meetup.com) and OKCupid for meeting people off-line.

I get all my online interaction out of my system here 😃

I’m sorry, I _would have_ had a recommendation for you a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t anymore. I used the chat rooms on [Meebo.com](http://Meebo.com), and met some cool people there. They’ve changed the rooms now though and it’s no longer possible to search existing rooms or join them unless you’ve become a member of the room in the past already.

I can still get in the chats I previously used, but new users can’t find chats anymore if they’re not already a member, and they need to be invited to rooms. So they will slowly die out I think. Bah and grrr.

So I’ll be watching this thread too I guess!
