My write in was Needful Things. I think it gets far less respect than it deserves. The characters pop (good acting), show some impressive emotion, and it hangs on one of my favorite King novels - where the evil is generally little more than a whisper and just lets people be their worst selves.
I probably watch it twice a year, when I want a slightly more subtle evil that is nevertheless NOT conflicted or tortured by what it is.
Of the actual poll-based options, I also feel The Stand miniseries deserves a bit more love. The Stand is a notoriously long book (especially if you have one of the later editions with some of the cut material returned). Converting it, even to a mini-series and making it even vaguely coherent (much less giving screen time to the characters to make you give a damn) was an immense challenge.
Did it succeed? Well, yes, but not particularly well. Some of the main characters were surprisingly good, but overall the acting suffered (even for a “luxury” miniseries in 1994 it doesn’t compared to bigger budgets and names), and it ended up swinging a bit too far towards camp IMHO. And a lot of my favorite, tiny bits are completely missing.
I just want it to get a bit more recognition, in that it swung for the bleachers with little hope, and inevitably fell short. But it tried hard.
(My other votes were more honest evaluations, but are already the top three in the poll, so not much to add).
Aside, I also liked the first season of “Under the Dome”, though the actual King source is far better. This is again a personal preference, because similar to Needful Things, while there’s a supernatural/alien intervention that knocks over the domino, it’s mostly about how normal people can become monsters when under stress or given the chance to elevate themselves.
No complaint about it not being included in the list, and not sure it’s even worthy of being a write-in, but maybe an honorable mention if restricted to the first season. If I valued it as a whole… not so much.
