Best theme music

anybody ever see “superfly?”
curtis mayfield’s soundtrack is freaking amazing, with an emphasis on “freaking.”

OMG! No one has mentioned my all time favorite TV theme! Barney Miller!

It’s either Hong Kong Phooey or The New Avengers.

Mike Post (sometimes “with Pete Carpenter”) deserves some sort of award for most consistantly superb themes. Magnum P.I., Hunter, Silk Stalkings, Hill Street Blues, and I think Rockford Files among dozens of other great ones.

Also, the Mike Hammer theme “Harlem Nocture” by Earl Hagen…TRM

p.s. - Oh! And Monty Python! And the new “Enterprise” theme is great, and, and,… oh never mind

I would like to nominate The NBC Mystery Movie Theme by Henry Mancini. Does anyone remember that?

If you stick around till the very end of the credits they play the original theme song.

Hi there. I had been lurking around for 2 months now, miserable that I had nothing of any substance to contribute, but am glad that I now can.

I grew up on MASH, Combat, Twilight Zone, Hawaii 5-0, Starsky & Hutch and Taxi, so I guess to me, they are my memorable best TV theme songs. I can still hum to them! Theme from Twin Peaks is another favourite.

Cavatina from the Deer Hunter and Tubular Bells are other pieces that loop around in my mind, some days.

My picks, by category.

Movie with Best Thme Song: “Star Trek: First Contact.” (It STILL gives me chills)

TV Show: “Cybersix.”

Video Game: “Sim City 2000.”

R

TV vampire show : Ultraviolet

My good, no one mentioned. Cinema Paradiso. The whole movie music is a work of art. No one mentioned Chariots of Fire.

Movies: Jurassic Park, Jaws, Air Force One, and Wing Commander (though the movie itself was worthless)

TV: Cheers, DS9, ER, Real World (This is the true story…) Twilight Zone

Batman!

starring Adam West as the Caped Crusader.

Theme from the Halloween, with the lone piano against the low strings, good something-is-just-behind-you music.

And what about the cheesy Gonna Fly Now anthem from the Rocky movies?

Everyone who has ever watched TV knows the theme to Wizard of Oz.

from TV Land, anybody who grew up in the 70s could sing the entire theme to All in the Family, except for perhaps the next to last line.

“Movin’ On”, mid seventies TV series starring Claude Akins. Merle Haggard did the theme song.

Theme from Forest Gump

“Somewhere in My Memory” from Home Alone

Jurassic Park gives me chills. Every time. We played it in high school orchestra, and if you think it’s cool to listen to it on a stereo, try being in the middle of it, with all that beauty swelling all around you…

Oh, and welcome to the boards, Luna!

Thank you, RaCha’ar.

My top TV pics:

The A-Team
Gilligan’s Island
The original Star Trek

I’m gonna have to change mine to Jurassic Park too. Again, I’d forgotten how good it was till I downloaded an mp3 (thanks to this thread).

Six Feet Under
Queer As Folk
Picket Fences
I think someone may have already mentioned this, but I love the Good Times theme.
Sanford and Son
What’s Happenin’
