What is the best/fastest thirst quencher for you?
Doesn’t have to be a drink either.
A quickie: soda water on crushed ice with lemon spritz
The best I’ve ever found is the natural one–a big glass of ice water.
ORS or oral rehydration solution, a little packet that’s mixed with a litre of water and used to prevent dehydration and death, especially among children under five years old. Diarrhea, and more importantly dehydration, is a major cause of death among young kids in the Third or Developing world. Unicef and WHO did lots of research and discovered that salt/sugar/water given in correct amounts reduces childhood mortality by some 25 - 30%. Other major causes of death are measles, acute respiratory infections and malaria.
The solution is sold as Pedialyte in the US. Also sold as Gatorade. This is THE solution to avoiding a retched hangover or curing it in the morning because that hangover is your dehydrated body yelling atcha.
Maybe we could get some ORS sold at Coldie’s bar in Dopeville?
Try milk when you’re dehydrated.
Lemon Ice Gatorade over chipped ice. That is my beverage of preference when hot and sweaty. 100% of the time, if offered anything, I’d go for the gatorade.
Water, and lots of it. Cool, but not ice cold.
The original Lemon Lime Gatorade. That does it for me.
lemonade is very good ,
also iced tea
Cool, crisp water. Can’t beat that.
I got addicted to Gatorade working a landscaping job when I was in high school and college. I’m not real picky about the flavor (I drink it too fast to really taste it anyway), but it has to be cold.
Iced tea with lemon and/or lime and sacchrine.
Iced coffee with cream and sacchrine.
Diet coke.
Citra. I’m addicted to it. Has to be very cold.
Noone mentioned watermelons?
Oh well - it doesn’t work for me anyway.
If I’m hot and thirsty, about the only thing that won’t make me sick to my stomach is ice water; the colder the better. Otherwise, beer is a good thirst-quencher. And I’ve discovered that nothing enhances the flavor of Pepsi quite like mexican food. Won’t work with Coke–don’t even try it.
Water, (bottled), preferably cool, but I’d take lukewarm/room temperature over cold, warm, or hot, (sensitive teeth).
Cold water, but when i’m doing intense phyisical work Gatorade hits the spot. And keeps me going…and going…and going…
Mint Iced tea. It quenches any thirst I have.
Gatorade is also a great one to cure the thirsts.
Ice cold water goes without saying.
And Cherry or Grape Koolaid actually also always quenches my thirst.
The only soda that always works for me is Ginger Ale.
A frozen margarita. It has to be good, and really have a strong tart lime taste - if it’s weak, it just doesn’t work.
The margarita is best enjoyed in the afternoon, however, and won’t really be appropriate for the morning thirsties.
