“Boss Hogg,” which was not only a commentary on the character’s girth and greed, but was derived from the name “Hagg” which was the family name of the moonshine running family in _Moonrunners_, on which the _Dukes of Hazzard_ was based. Heck, I’ll throw in “Cooter Davenport.” I never knew his first name had a naughty connotation until recently. Also, Santos L. Halper. ---

The old Jim Henson sitcom _Dinosaurs_ had a newscaster named Howard Handupme. Also, rewatching old _Pinky and the Brain_s on DVD, I am often amused by the wacky aliases the Brain comes up for the two of them. Two of my favorites are a politician named Ned Limpopo and an Icelandic astronaut named Dr. Nicky Jiggleitalittleitllopen. (Then again, their sister show _Animaniacs_ had some amusing names as well, one of the most memorable being Professor Otto von Schniztlepusskrankengesheitmeyer.) ---
