# Best WAMP

I just got a Windows Vista laptop, and want to install a WAMP on it.

I have used apache2triad before, but it seems that it hasn’t been updated since 1973 … 🙂

After some searching, I found two reasonable choices: “Web-Developer Server Suite” and XAMPP.

They both seem up-to-date and capable of running under Vista.

Are the above WAMPs good?

Is there a “best WAMP” out there?

It’s been my experience not to use a pre-packaged suite. With a pre-package suite, you are at the mercy of whomever initially created it. What about bug reports, updates, etc? Instead, install everything separately from stand-alone apps. That way you can be assured to using the specific app and version number. Any problems you may encounter can be addressed individually. It’s also a great learning experience.

I don’t want a learning experience 🙂

I just want a quick way to install everything so that I can start testing some ideas.

Even if installing everything separately is better, I would like to use a WAMP.

Given that, what is the best WAMP out there at the moment?
