What do you think is the best word ever spoken in a movie? My vote is for Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars when we says the word “evil” talking to Luke about Darth Vader and how he turned to evil. ---

In _Jaws_, Sherrif Brody is making a mayday call to the coast guard; Quint comes storming in, wielding a baseball bat, which he uses to smash the radio to bits. After Brody yells at Quint, calling him ‘certifiable’, Quint replies with: “YahYahYah!” ---

“Fuck” by Sigourney Weaver in ‘Galaxy Quest’. They dubbed over it, but you could read her lips, and it was very appropriate to the occasion. ---

Kind of surprised no one came up with either of these two: “nuance” “gesture” Both from the same movie; bonus points if you know which one. 🙂 ---

Damn! **Sam Stone** beat me to it. I love that Mel Brooks gave the _only_ spoken word in **Silent Movie** to mime Marcel Marceau. Not the greatest spoken word in film, but one of the most notable. [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/best-word-spoken-in-a-movie/143258.md?page=2)
