Enquiring minds want to .. ah, you know the rest! 🙂 Seriously, I’ve been down this path twice, and my personal theory about the last month is that it’s not so much about the baby’s health as it’s for the mother – the final four weeks are so unbelievably uncomfortable that you say that you don’t even care any more what has to happen, you just want this creature OUT of you so you can finally get comfortable again and get some SLEEP. Heh-heh. You do realize that we’re going to expect some fabulously cute pix in about a month’s time, right? Have you charged up the digital cam yet? In all seriousness, I can’t think of two people who deserve the loveliness that is about to come more than you and **ToykoWife.** If only all children were as blessed as Beta-chan is about to be!! ---

Hang in there, little Beta-chan. Made it past an important deadline, little one, so now you just keep growing. Your vigorous kicks to Mama’s spine and/or bladder are sooo funny but you don’t have to do many of them. You and Mama both feel a little crowded right now. Great news, **TokyoPlayer**! When I read the story of Pough-chan all that time ago, I was sobbing at my desk so hard that I had to excuse myself from the office for a while. Reading now about Beta-Chan, you have me almost in tears again, but this time they’re the kind of tears I like. My best wishes to you and your family in all things. ---

The hardest time was when we lost the second pregnancy and, along with it, the blind confidence that everything would be fine. That babies will be healthy babies and problems just statistical bumps in the road. Now, at 36 weeks – a mere six days from the safety line where a birth crosses from premature to simply early, I still can’t relax. Intellectually, I know that Beta-chan is almost certainly to be fine, but it’s not the mind which wakes me at three. Please, please Beta, be healthy. Kick and cry. Fuss and scream. Drive us nuts at night. But just be healthy. When I hold you, let it be for your first of many breaths, not your last of too few. Let us take you home in our arms. Your father begs of you. Stay will us. ---

I was lurking during the Pough-chan postings, and did spend time sobbing at my desk. To read this thread is amazing. I can’t possibly imagine how this situation is making you feel. I know that I (yes, a complete loser stranger who’s just electrons) am incredibly JAZZED that things are going so well. Lord and Lady, your wife is adorable! Beta-chan, all of us love you already, but you can stay inside a little longer and we’ll wait patiently. stickystickystickystickysticky ---

Yeah! I’m glad to hear this. I hope you and your wife have another four weeks of discomfort, bladder-soccer, and feeling huge and uncomfortable.
