Very cute-sy. Gives a whole different vibe to the song, much less serious and it doesn’t make me think it’s about a weird looking gold-digger.

Woah! I always thought it was “unhease” too. Like, her bug out eyes will make you unglued. Have you _seen_ Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? You will fucking lose your mind!

I’ve read that Jackie DeShannon was very unhappy that her record company made her sing her song in a light-hearted fashion, and was glad that Kim Carnes released a version more in keeping the lyrics. So much so that DeShannon now sings the song closer to the Carnes version than the original recording. I also remember Casey Kasem on AT40 saying Bette Davis thanked Carnes for making her relevant in the eyes of her grandchildren.
