It worked for me! Funny video, though I would’ve preferred that they play it a little more straight.

Since they went to the trouble of letting us know Gus is trained in CPR, I think it’s much more likely that there’s some significance in how he didn’t give Hector breath assistance.

I’m not saying Jimmy doesn’t feel bad after screwing people over to get what he wants. I didn’t parse Chuck’s words, but I didn’t understand him to say, “Why PRETEND to be guilty/sorry?”

IMO it is a pretty classic sign of immaturity for someone to do something that any responsible individual would know has a likelihood of bad effects, and then act surprised/sorry/whatever when those results occur. I’m reminded of the countless times my kids would say, “I didn’t mean to!” and our response would be, “Yeah, but you DID!”

Apologies - even heartfelt - are worth something the first couple of times you screw someone over. But once you make screwing people into a habit, just lose the self-serving guilt/apologies.

Yeah - that parting line from Chuck was pretty exceptionally harsh. I think when he said that, I was less happy to spend the screentime on his decline - would have preferred for him to just die quickly.

When Kim was looking over her calendar, I thought again, “WHY hasn’t she hired a paralegal yet?”

So, does this at least mean we won’t have to be seeing Chuck’s horrendously ugly pus yellow house anymore? Is that paint color a NM thing or something? That was one fugly house. And a style of architecture I was not familiar with, and wouldn’t expect of a successful NM lawyer. Not sure how well the interior matched up with the interior. At one point, I think in the kitchen, there appeared to be 2-3 steps up in one corner, suggesting different levels as might be encountered in a mid-century, ranch, or split-level. Whereas the exterior seemed to be straightforward frame 2-story.

Yeah - THAT’S what bothers me about this show! :o

> Oooh, yeah, that would be juicy. Any legal eagles know if Jimmy’s finder’s-fee contract would likely have some ethics provision that would let HHM and the plaintiffs claw that bonus back?

Jimmy was very careful in how he ran the con. As he said while wearing the microphone, he never told a lie. I’d think the more prevalent danger would be with the bar association, but even then, if he never acted as a lawyer and didn’t actually lie, he would seem to be in the clear.

Did anyone notice how the voice of child Chuck at the beginning sounded almost exactly like Michael McKean? I was listening to it without watching it and was surprised when I looked at the screen and saw it was NOT him. I almost wonder if they some fancy sound editing to either dub a manipulated McKean’s voice over that kid actor, or manipulated his voice to sound more like McKean.

Also, what was the significance of that scene? To show that Jimmy worries about other people and Chuck tells him “it’ll be fine”? Kinda odd.

I am also bad at catching things this show is trying to tell us.

And, re: CPR - Seems to me that the actor(s) could have said “I’m not going to face suck with this guy for the camera. Shoot around it,” and they did. _shrug_

Yeah, Jimmy does so many major crimes, ethics violations, and immoral things, then pops up like a kid with “But I didn’t MEAN to!” at the end, because he sees them all as harmless larks even though he should know better. Altering legal documents to make Chuck look dumb, for example, is a really big deal (he’d be disbarred if Chuck could prove it), but he just figured it would get Kim the account, then everything would blow over. And he went to his brother’s house and kicked in the door figuring it would just be a brotherly argument, completely oblivious to the fact that he was committing several major crimes in front of someone who he now knows has it out for him. It’s a pattern he does a lot, and it’s why I only consider his sacrifice to fix Irene’s life a neutral action - yes, Jimmy sacrificed to save someone else, but he created the situation where she needed to be saved in the first place.

Why would Howard accept Jimmy working in the firm, much less accept direction from him? He’s already arranged to buy out the McGill part, and he thinks much less of Jimmy than Chuck. And why would Kim want to work for HHM? I can’t see any reason for her to want to work for them at all when she can either print money with MV or go off to another firm where she doesn’t have the problem that one of the major partners has grudge against her and another is someone she absolutely didn’t want to enter a practice together with because she expected trouble.

I think the show made it clear that HHM really can’t afford the buyout, Howard really had to stretch to come up with the first 1/3 payment. I don’t think Jimmy wants to work for HHM anyway, so he works out a deal for Kim to get an managing partnership in exchange for some or all of Chuck’s buyout - basically turning Chuck’s equity into Kim’s equity. Kim going back to HHM as an managing partner is a big difference than going back as a partner-track associate.

Of course, the chances of any of this happening is approximately zero. I’m just daydreaming here.

Howard has arranged for the buyout, he’s in debt but it’s done now. If he’s already gone through the pain of setting up to buy out Chuck, I can’t imagine him deciding ‘oh, well, I could just continue the buyout I’ve already set up, but instead I’ll let another McGill, the one I already think is a scumbag, mess around with my baby instead!’.

Why would Kim want to work for HHM at all, especially at a position she didn’t actually earn? Why would Kim accept charity from Jimmy any more than Jimmy would accept charity from Kim? Why does Jimmy suddenly want Kim working at HHM for no reason? What made Jimmy completely give up the dream of him and Kim doing their private practice together, which he could easily afford if he had the buyout money?

I don’t see how this situation is something that any of Howard, Jimmy, or Kim would actually WANT, much less allow to happen, much less enthusiastically let happen.

Is Chuck divorced or just separated? If he’s not divorced then I think the wife inherits if he’s intestate.

Yeah - I think this is key, especially in light of the Atticus discussion. I see her as going out to “do good”: legal aide, dragon slaying class actions, or the like.

So - when is the next ep? 😃

No. Howard came up with 1/3 of the buyout. He still owes Chuck (or Chuck’s estate) $6M. Maybe he will push the Sandpiper clients to settle in order to raise some of the money.

And I already said that there is no way Jimmy wants to be part of a stuck-up law firm like HHM (he had that chance at D&M). He convinces Howard to offer Kim a partner position in exchange for forgiving some or all of the debt. Kim finds out about it later and that’s what splits Jimmy and Kim up - but she keeps the partner position.

As of today there is still no commitment from AMC on a fourth season:

> [@](#):
>
> The Breaking Bad prequel has not yet been renewed by AMC, its US broadcaster, however creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould are confident that there will be a fourth season four.
>
> The writers put the delay in renewing the series down to “a little bit of reorganising” at Sony, which produces Better Call Saul and was also behind its parent show.

[Better Call Saul season 4 release date: Will there be another series? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV | Express.co.uk](http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/819703/Better-Call-Saul-season-4-release-date-cast-trailer-breaking-bad)

In searching I found the AMC announcement for the premiere of Season 3–which was just a few short weeks in advance of the first episode’s airing. Apparently AMC doesn’t like to commit very far in advance.

The past seasons have all premiered _at least_ a year after the premiere of the previous season, so April 2018 is probably the earliest we’ll see it.

Howard isn’t dumb enough to start writing checks on the buyout if he hasn’t arranged the whole thing. Howard has taken out the loans he needs and the 3 buyout checks are going to happen on time, he’s not Jimmy who would get just enough to make this check and wait for a miracle on the second one.

Aside from the fact that Howard doesn’t want Kim or Jimmy at his firm, you still haven’t explained why Jimmy would even want Kim to be a partner at HHM or why Kim would want to become a partner at HHM. Jimmy wants him and Kim working together, ‘get Kim a high ranking job at HHM’ has never been a goal of his, and if he were to get the money from Chuck’s share of HHM he’d be able to set up that practice easily. Meanwhile Kim has no desire to go back to HHM, she’s making bank and doing her own thing now without having to deal with Howard, and the only regret she’s shown (not being Atticus Finch) wouldn’t be solved by working at HHM. And Why would Kim be so stupid that she wouldn’t question why Howard has gone from being angry at her to offering to put her name on the firm? Kim is not an idiot, Howard isn’t going to offer her something worth millions for no reason whatsoever.

Again, the scenario you came up with isn’t appealing to any of the three people involved, especially the one who would have to drive it (Jimmy) and the one who would get the ‘benefit’ (Kim).

I dunno, but she is at such a delicate point right now that when she hears about what happened to Chuck, it wouldn’t surprise me if she never practices law ever again. Also wouldn’t surprise me to see that her relationship with Jimmy is unable to sustain that blow, as well.
