# Beverly Hillbillies question

All right…

Granny is Jeds mother-in- law Right?

Ellie May is his daughter.

Jethro is his Nephew.

Pearl is Jethros mother.

So my question is this…

How is Pearl related to Jed? He calls her Cousin. So does Ellie May And Granny.

What gives? How can Pearl be Jeds Sister and cousin?

jeds ma and pa were related to pearls ma or pa hence the cousin…jethro calling him uncle jed is a respect thing i guess…calling him jed wouldnt be right and either would mr clampet…and you realize i have no idea what im talking about

And Pearl (IIRC) was the sister of _Petticoat Junction_’s Kate Bradley (both were played by Bea Benaderet).

My cousin’s kids call me Uncle.

- I’m really their daddy \* 🙂

But, my brother and I call Mom’s cousins Cousin So&So.
