Bewitched is once again being touted as a [big screen movie](http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,10565,00.html) , this time starring Nicole Kidman and Mike Myers. So who would be your BEWITCHED dream cast? I like Nicole and Mike, but for the others: Endora- Judith Dench Larry Tate- Kelsey Grammer Uncle Arthur- Nathan Lane (or Elton John) Aunt Clara- Betty White Maurice- Anthony Hopkins Second Darrin- Jimmie J.J. Hm. Nicole and Penelope in the same movie? Interesting on-set interaction there, I’d bet. How about having a different Darrin every 10 minutes? Play it campy, like the Brady Bunch movies. ---

Mike Meyers as Darrin? Ugh. The only person who’d be less appealing in the role would be Adam Sandler. ---

I’d have to say Reese Witherspoon as Samatha and Serena, as they were played by Elizabeth Montgomery. Jim Carrey as Darrin Stevens. Katherine Helmond as Endora. Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Bombay. Kevin Spacey as Uncle Arthur Larry and Louise Tate - not sure. Aunt Clara, Aunt Hagatha, other misc. characters - not sure. ---

If Dr. Bombay is in it, it has to be Bernard Fox. There is but one Bombay, and Bernard is his name, selah. I love Dame Edna as Aunt Clara though. ---

I am so totally in your debt and you have no idea. I saw a part of that movie when I was a teenager and didn’t know the name and didn’t recognize the stars and have been wanting to see it for years. (It hasn’t been a MAJOR quest, but a quest nonetheless.) A movie I’d like to see remade is BELL, BOOK, AND CANDLE; it could even work as “yet another Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie”, though I’d rewrite the Jack Lemmon Beatnik brother into a grunge singer or white rapper. ---

The Darren switch is the most memorable thing about the original show. ---

Samantha – Nicole Kidman rules. She is it! Darrin – Anthony Edwards Endora – Kathrine Helmond (yes, yes, yes; excellent choice, Intaglio) Larry Tate – Morgan Freeman Uncle Arthur – Will Farrell Aunt Clara – Alice Ghostly (she played that ditzy witch, but she’s ready for clara, btw, is she still alive?) Betty White was a good suggestion too. Gladys Kravity – Jackie (can’t remember last name) played Rosanne’s sister Frank Stephens – David Canary (Adam/Stuart on All My Children) Darrin’s mother – (what the heck was her first name) Louise Fletcher Dr. Bombay – I think that guys is still alive. Bring him back for a cameo. ---

I don’t really think Nicole Kidman (IMHO more Jeannie) or Meg Ryan (too old) is really right. I think Reese Witherspoon is just right to play both Samantha and Serena, and if they do it right her daughter with Ryan Phillippe could play Tabatha. ---

Not Jim Carrey! Darren has to be the complete straight man, incapable of humor, or being much more than a human prop. How about Bill Paxton as Darren, switching halfway through to Bill Pullman? Let’s see if we notice the difference. ---

Samantha/Serena – Reese Witherspoon - that’s got to be a lock. Darren – Thomas Gibson (from “Dharma & Greg” & “Tales of the City”) Endora – Olympia Dukakis Larry Tate – Steve Martin Louise Tate – Mimi Rogers?? (actually, I can barely remember what this character was like, so I can’t really make a better decision.) Aunt Clara – Carol Burnett!!! Gladys Kravitz – dunno her name, but the actress who played Mrs. Costanza on “Seinfeld” Abner Kravitz – actor who plays Frank on “Everybody Loves Raymond” Uncle Aurthur – Sean Hayes (Jack on “Will & Grace”) Dr. Bombay – I agree with Kelsey Grammer ---

A couple of more thoughts on this very important topic. I think Reese Witherspoon is great. (And if you haven’t seen “Election,” go out and rent it today!) She has it all. But she is not quite right for Samantha. She’s too young. Elizabeth Montgomery was 30 when the show premired. And no, it doesn’t have to be a carbon copy Montgomery, but I feel Samantha should have lived a little. Seen a few things. Not a cute kid right out of college. If not Kidman (and yes, she would make a “killer” Jeanie, btw), I would recomend Heather Locklear. She has the attitude and worldly way that Samantha and Serena need.
