I thought it looked very Michael-Jackson-ish too. I must not know enough about dancing because it didn’t look that weird to me. Or perhaps all dancing looks weird to me?

During the one scene when she’s wearing a green thing slashed across the chest (How many wardrobe changes do post-apocalyptic girls keep stashed in their truck in the middle of the desert?) and shaking the girls side to side, all I could think of was, “How many rolls of cleavage tape did they go through to prevent wardrobe malfunctions in that scene alone?”. And if girls rule the world, how come she’s hiding behind two male guards? If the riot-geared men had rushed the group of women rolling around on the ground in heels, instead of a last-second second group of riot-geared men that showed up from nowhere, the video might have gotten interesting. It just made me sad that, as bad as it was, it will be hailed as incredibly wonderful by her fans…doing that goofy thing with her feet was just odd.

See, I thought it was supposed to look Michael Jacksonish, but just ended up looking funny. Honestly, I think they should have reshot the funny dancing party and made it better. Still, I am loving having a laugh at it.

Preach.

I actually hate this song, BUT— not all dancing is supposed to be pretty. I’m not sure how anyone can say the dancing is technically bad though, she’s really hitting it and nailing what are (if you are looking) pretty complex moves. The moves just ain’t pretty.

Beyonce has never struck me as more than an enthusiastic but utilitarian dancer. She’s technically accurate, but doesn’t bring anything special to the table.

I’ve said this before and have been criticized, but I will say it again:

I never liked the performers who were just hardworking, ambitious entertainers without that ‘something special’ talent. I never did. I’m thinking Usher and Timberlake and their ilk. They seem to have learned to master the moves, but they don’t seem to have that innate magic. I respect their work ethic, I just don’t find them to be my favorite entertainers.

I prefer to be entertained by performers who have that extra special ‘talent’. Some performers have that and almost no technical skill (Hi, Britney) and some have that magic and tons of technical skill (Hi Michael Jackson).

I would put Beyonce in the same catagory as Usher and Timberlake if not for one thing…her absolute fearlessness. It’s not just that she is willing to work like a horse…it is that she is willing to do that, master moves of the icons and on top of that, have the audacity to try to bring something new. I likes that.

So it’s not just me then. She dances like she’s having an epileptic fit. I’ll add the [Vizio ad](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZVAX69ujEU) of her dancing which I’m guessing is suppose to be sexy. It made me think of the Seinfeld episode with Elaine dancing.

I can’t speak for Justin Timberlake beyond what I’ve seen him do on Saturday Night Live when he is a guest, but he is the funniest thing on the show. He has great comedy chops.

The style in the video is basically Krumping, right?
[Krumping](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0mTvBlLQWc) seems to be more about literally having your body imitate the rhythm of the song and “look what I can make my body do” than looking pretty.

This.

I’d heard of him before but this was the first time I’d seen him. I don’t normally watch SNL because it’s so lame but he was absolutely the funniest thing on the show. He has great comedic timing and appears to be able to sing and choreograph well.

I get your general point but I don’t see it as applied to Beyonce. MJ, polished and smooth. BK, jerky and out of sync. She needs a new choreographer.

I myself could care less how hard they work. If someone can walk on stage and nail it I’m happy. I’d prefer that musicians spend more time on their music and less on visual presentation (I’m looking at you Lady Gaga). Getting tired of looking at video’s out of the “Clockwork Orange school of What the Hell”?
