I’m shocked – shocked! – that this is being taken so lightly. Don’t you realize that the original fuck-up, and now the lack of a bible, are part of a right-wing conspiracy by Justice Roberts to deny presidential powers to Obama? [sub]Seriously, if the parties were reversed – if a Democratic Supreme Court justice had fucked up the oath of office to a Republican president, wouldn’t those guys be screaming about the conspiracy theory and attempted subversion of the Constitution by the Supreme Court Justice?[/sub] ---

As I understand it, swearing on the bible is a relatively new innovation, I’m talking mid-20th Century. See, we used to have this thing called separation of church and state – a quaint concept, like the Geneva Convention … ---
