Sorry, mea culpa. I’ve long ago dismissed John Leo as Yet Another Right-Wing Crank, and I find it very hard to take him as an objective cite for anything political. I mean, Metacom’s cite is a much better example IMO.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying that all liberals are stainless angels or anything like that. There are certainly nuts on both sides of the aisle, whether we’re talking about John Leo or Michael Moore. But the notion that liberals are “even less so” to tolerate diverse viewpoints strikes me as an unsubstantiated cheap pot-shot, especially given recent events (coughLondonprotestsahemTheReagansharrumph).

Considering the fact that Republicans gave such coverage to speakers who were pro-abortion-rights, I think that it makes it a valid “cite” to back up my statement that being liberal does not inherently make a group more tolerant of diverse opinions than conservative groups.

No disagreement there; it’s the “even less so” part that I’m still disagreeing over, especially since the pro-choice Republicans were still ignored in the end.

rjung, if the words “even less so” is your only beef, I won’t argue further. There’s no objective way to prove “more” or “less” in this matter.

In fact, I even hedged that myself, by prefacing said statement with the word “possibly.”
