I will be very happy to be wrong about Biden. If he can keep up a string of energetic performances with no more than his baseline gaffes and stutter related malapropisms, along with good attack lines, he may be able to pull it off yet. Surprisingly good news - his fairly decent hour long news conference, yes with gaffes but also demonstrating his mastery of the material of complex issues, was watched by 21 million. Not debate level viewership but not shabby. He has to keep this level up though. And he really needs to elevate Harris to a level that people see her as a major role along side him. ---

If this was the 1980’s, with SDMB on a bulletin board system, we would be making the same fair comment about Ronald Reagan — he’s acting. I prefer a Rose Garden strategy where the incumbent does the job they are being paid for (and then announces what one done today in a brief Rose Garden announcement). If ever there was a race where campaigning will not help, this is it. ---
