These last two have gone a long way to settle me. I’m not yet sure that he has the stamina needed, and his hole is still deep, but the Biden that fielded questions at the press conference, and who worked the room at the rally, has a very realistic chance of building some momentum at the convention and riding it to November. I hope they keep that doppelgänger who showed up at the debate locked in the attic though! _He_ gets out and about again and we are doomed!!! ---

Those are standard Biden misspeaks that he’s done since forever. Very seriously they don’t worry me. He held court to a variety of questions on complex subjects fluidly and lucidly for something like a hour. And over 20 million people tuned to watch him do it. It was much more good than bad. ---

If any of us were going to worry about them then we shouldn’t have run him last time. Time ran an article on his [top ten gaffes](https://content.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1895156_1894977_1846609,00.html) back when he was VP 18 years ago. They are part and parcel of who he is, a known aspect. The debate was different than that. ---

It’s not really going to work in favor of Biden the second time. It was not temporary, just the weak voice. He is going to panic again in a 2minute and 1 minute format. So they will just have to take the bad press from canceling. Lesser loss. If there is anyone in charge at all, they will talk him out of this. “Do you want to win in November, Joe? Yes.
