I’m imagining in the future a broken trump, with dementia settling in, muttering incessantly to his nurses or anyone witihin earshot about how much larger his inauguration crowd was than Biden’s. ---

We now know that Trump will be well on his way to Florida and Pence will be there. So the only thing left to predict is whether Biden will even mention Trump and I think he will. Exactly 48 hours now. ---

I’d like Biden to begin his speech: “Our long national nightmare if finally over…” Yes, thanking Mike Pence for showing a scintilla of decency for attending should be in the mix. But absolutely ZERO mention of his predecessor. Once the speech is over, hop in the limo and book it to the White House. No need for a luncheon with Congress due to covid, just get sworn in and get to the business of beginning to undo the damage wrought by a madman. ---

If I had to be money, I would say that he would imply a lot about Trump, but not mention him by name or thank him in any way. He will thank Mike Pence, who will be there. He’ll mention all the lies, divisiveness, and so forth, but not specifically dig into Trump by name. He’ll just…let him disappear like an old Tweet. ---

I think he will not speak the name “trump” but will make some sort of non-committal reference to “the president.” He probably will mention Pence by name. I’m with Thelma on this. Biden is too classy to wallow in the mud and I think he’d rather focus on what _he’ll_ do as president going forward, not reflect on the past. Outside of possible indictments I’d like Biden to never refer to Trump again. ---

Just out of curiosity, are there two presidential limos? I assume one will be in Florida to drive Donnie to his golf club, but I doubt it could be flown back to DC in time for Biden to go to Arlington. So does Joe have to wait for the limo to get back or is there a second one? ---

It appears there is currently only one, but [this article](https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/motors/even-at-1-5m-joe-biden-s-beast-isn-t-the-priciest-presidential-limo-1.4455575) indicates that Biden will use it for the inauguration. While I wouldn’t put it past Trump to have it flown to Florida just to fuck with Biden, I haven’t seen any indication that he intends to do so. And since there’s a [helipad at Mar-a-Lago](https://www.palmbeachdailynews.com/story/news/2020/11/08/use-helipad-mar-lago-ends-trumps-term-jan-20/6206540002/), I’m sure that’s how he would get there, especially to avoid seeing people with LOSER signs along his route. ---

Is there some sort of tradition that the incoming POTUS thank the outgoing one? If so, when does this happen? I just read transcripts of Obama’s 2009 inauguration address and Kennedy’s address. Neither one said anything directly about his predecessor. ---

Thanks. I had googled Obama Inauguration Speech 2009 and did not notice that the transcript I was linked to was from 2013. Is thanking your predecessor a relatively new thing? If not, why didn’t Kennedy thank Eisenhower? ---
