Biden has no chance of winning the nomination, all he is going to do is further dilute the “not Hillary” vote. ---

Ash Carter’s wife (whoever that is) isn’t the leader of a major world power. The problem with what GWB did was just that it was pure buffoonery, and if the US had an international image during the terms of GWB+Cheney as a nation of idiots, cowboys, and buffoons, that would be one reason. ---

Buffoonery isn’t desirable in a President, but it’s far from disqualifying. If Bush had been a good President it would be akin to Ford’s clumsiness. Biden’s personal foibles are in the same class: charming and funny if he’s a good President, oafishness if he’s not. ---

Ford’s clumsiness was invented by Chevy Chase (the man had been an All-American football player, fer crissakes), and even if real would have been a physical attribute, not buffoonery (was FDR clumsy?). Buffoonery is a choice, a lifestyle, and yes, it’s disqualifying.
