@Beckdawrek I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. You are still a very sick lady, and you should milk that for what it’s worth, for as long as possible. (Wink-wink) I meant visits with the Grand-wrex. You get to do all the nibbling and chewing and blowing raspberries on bellies. The minute a kid barfs, poops, or cries, Mommy swoops in and takes custody! Bravo for Big Wrek hiring a house cleaner! I know your family loves you to distraction, Becks, but their own joie de vivre seems to blot out any sense of what’s best for _you_. I wanted to stand up and applaud the grandwrekks for making their own rules of acceptable behavior. Now the rest of the family needs to step up. Maybe they could start with a few basic commandments for when there’s a very sick, very beloved matriarch in the household: 1. If you can be heard clearly in the next room, you’re too loud. Take all beer-swilling, guffawing, loud-talking gatherings to the hunting lodge (or whatever it’s called). This includes arguments. 2. No loud TV, music, or games. If it can be heard in the next room… 3. Pick up after yourself, dammit. 4. Everybody but Beck gets daily chores: dishes, floor-scrubbing, bathroom-cleaning, critter care, errands. No bitching. Just do it. Beck does not assign such chores. Work it out (quietly). 5. Ask Mom/Gramma what you can do for her. Give her wildflowers, grins, hugs, and the giggles. Just don’t pat her shoulder. Sorry. I guess it’s the teacher in me. I haven’t made any class rules in 6 years, and it shows. 🙂 Two more days until the Jojo Show Show! ---

They are being very good today. Son has the youngins out fishing. Mid-Dau brought my snack and was telling me how Hamza worked on the downstairs toilets. And she had cleaned the fridge. I wanted to tell her that was not necessary since the cleaning ladies were coming. But I let her take pride in her work. Who am I to bust her bubble? All my kids know how to clean and organize. I taught these skills to them. I just think they let their hair down because I was gone so long. Yes them grandbabies are good good good kids. And of course I love that. DIL apologized profusely. She said she just wasn’t thinking. Lack of sleep will do that. Things are much more calmer today. My Sister went to visit some old friends, is one reason. And kids are managed. That always helps. Yes, @VOW, I will milk it.🤒 ---

Late to the discussion. I know it was on a message board somewhere maybe quite a while back (I am pretty sure it was here at the SDMB) One of the members was an identical twin. She said that she and her sister went and got tattoos of Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat ---

I say good on your new BFF for looking out for you. And good on you for understanding that and carrying it home and speaking up. Son-of-a Wrek was trying to show others that you had his back with all those pats. He loves his momma. But maybe you can teach him a better way when you feel up to it. And congratulations for getting Big Wrekker to hire a cleaner. You do have a wonderful family, but even wonderful families need to be reined in. Too bad it is often up to the sick one to do the job. But well done, and may your nights continue to be peaceful. At least until Jojo joins the household. ---

I’m having fun with feline introductions currently. A community cat has decided to come hang out inside my place in the evenings lately, and a certain Siamese Princess is miffed. I think she’s calming down, and Buddy (our guest cat) seems inclined to get along with her, but we still have some hissies. ---

Yas, my mother wasn’t happy that I had cats but she came over for Christmas and my snugly Pitch curled up against her arm and went to sleep. She wasn’t exactly charmed but she let him sleep there for about 20 minutes. Next visit, he climbed into her lap as if it was mine. I told her she was chosen for love. ---
