How is that less ham-fisted? “Guess who’s going to be on our show next week?” is about as on-the-nose as it gets. The original complaint centers around the fact that saying her full name makes the reference obvious. It doesn’t get more obvious than your example. ---

Indeed; it’s like “the hot guy from BSG.” 😃 I too think they were playing on the way fans will call a star by their full name all the time. “The Chris Isaac Show” riffed on that too - to this day my husband and I always call him Bret Michaels from Poison, because that’s how his fan on the show ALWAYS referred to him. ---

He does talk to his mother via webcam, I can’t recall if we’ve seen him talk to another woman, even a relative. He did refer to sisters in the last show, so perhaps there’s a way for the writers to make Raj’s breakthrough. Sister comes to visit, they go to a party and another dark-haired woman is wearing the same dress. Cyrano de Bergerac-style hi-jinks ensure. It would be nice to see one of the characters make some progress on this show.
