And what has become of Leonard? He must have been in this episode, but I’m damned if I can remember even seeing him. Considering the fact that he gets first billing, he’s certainly taking a back seat to the other characters. What would it take to get him back into the show? ---

If Amy dumps Sheldon then her character would be written off the show and that would be a shame. ---

I think they’ve established Amy’s place in the group to the point she’d reasonably remain without dating Sheldon. She and Bernadette get along, she is Penny’s best friend (and though Penny may disagree, there are no other candidates for the role besides Leonard), and she’s going to see Neil Diamond with Howard. There would also be the comic mileage to be had from Sheldon having an ex-gf, which is more understandable than him having a gf in the first place. And losing her may be the only way he’ll make any progress towards treating her better, based on previous storylines. ---

Penny is Amy’s best friend, but the reverse is not true. She’s as close with Bernadette as she is with Amy. Penny’s best friend, if not Leonard, is probably Sheldon. She clearly loves him, even though she doesn’t actually like him. ---

IF they know when the last episode is coming up (as opposed to being canceled without notice), they could have a short arc of Sheldon being obsessed with coitus. More than a couple of episodes it would be tiresome to watch. ---
