So how do they reconcile “sealed for all _eternity_” with “Roman can reasign wives on a whim” other than “he’s the prophet”? 😕
Roman’s the prophet – he has the authority to seal and unseal people for eternity. It comes from their interpretation of Matthew 16:19, Matthew 18:18, Doctrine and Covenants 124:93, 127:7, and a bunch of other scripture verses tha all say some variant of this: “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” ---
Yeah, which reminds me: I found it hilariously ironic when Roman was watching the news report about the hunt for the other polygamist leader, and he muttered “Stupid greedy perverts. They’re gonna ruin it for the rest of us!” Dude, you’re a skeevy guy in his seventies who’s married to a sixteen-year-old girl!
Yeah, but he’s not a skeevy guy in his seventies who brought a sixteen year old girl _across state lines_, is he? 😉 [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/big-love-6-11/407679.md?page=2)
