> Wrong in what sense? This make the online content thing even more useful. I personally am at the limit of what can be stored on my wii so I have not purchased any more games because I just did not care to move things around on SD cards.

Wrong in the sense that people would want to download a bunch of things. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are lesser games on the Wii because of some clunky way of handling downloadable content.

In any case, it’s good to see that the capabilities of the Wii have been increased.

Hijack:

Didn’t I hear that Netflix Streaming Videos were going to come to Wii ?

In any event, I guess I should break down and buy my first HD card.

What do you guys think?

Will it hold Channels as well as Game Save Data? ((I had to let Everyone Votes and others go, to make way for Tetris Party.))

Me not know, but I think I’d be surprised.

> I’m pretty sure it’s firmware, since this morning my Wii’s disc slot was glowing bright blue, which is its notification that there are updates waiting.

Huh. I never knew what that glow was. I guess I should turn on my Wii again sometime soon to make it stop glowing, it’s literally been doing that for months and I haven’t had a single thought about it. 🙂

Re: the OP, about time! If it had been that way from the start I might have gotten Rock Band 2 for the Wii instead of the PS3, or at least it would have been a difficult decision (since my friends have RB1 on the Wii it would make for easier portability for parties, plus the free RB1 library, plus the second guitar for free…).

> But like I said, the Wii hardware is almost completely separate from the GC hardware. It’s not like a software emulation, like all the VC games are, it’s basically a small GC inside of the Wii. Could they have connected them better so you can use the classic controller? Maybe…but as said there is one less shoulder button on the classic controller.

The Classic Controller has _one more_ shouler button than the GC controller, not one less. But I think Nintendo forced GC games to be played with a GC controller because people want their backwards compatible games to be played with a similar style controller.

Playing N64 games with the Classic Controller is a bit of a bitch and I would love an N64-style Wii controller.

The new SD card storage solution was designed to hold Channels (and VC/WiiWare games). Nintendo still expects people to save game data on the Wii’s internal memory.

As for Netflix streaming, Netflix executives want it to happen, but it’s still a long way from being a reality.

[Right you are.](http://blog.makezine.com/diy-classic-controller-clip-08_425x319.jpg) But they are at the utmost of awkwardness. I fail to see how the inner shoulder buttons can be pressed without pressing the outer ones, or bending fingers in ways they were not meant to go.

Agreed. That’s why they’re releasing the Classic Controller Pro in Japan this Summer.

> We've all heard of Nintendo's SNES-like Classic Controller for the Nintendo Wii. Now the company has announced a similar, enhanced pad that should be out

I give it until Christmas before it’s released in the USA too.
