I loved In Search Of… when I was a kid. I can still enjoy it now as pure camp.
Did anybody here ever see a movie called Amazon Women On the Moon? It was a collection of television parodies which included something called Bullshit…or not?. It was an In Search of…/Unsolved Mysteries type of show. They had a segment alleging that Jack the Ripper was really the Loch Ness Monster. My favorite aspect of the show was the fact they referred to all of their “re-enactments” as “bullshit re-enactments,” which is EXACTLY what those things are.
I have him here with me. I think he wants to open an ‘Ask Bigfoot’ thread, but he’s kind of hard to understand. All his words start with an ‘r’ sound, like Astro.
Wow. This is me when I was a kid! I want my childhood back too!!!
We had a rash of bigfoot sightings near where I grew up when I was a kid. It caused quite the uproar with many people going out looking for it. My brothers friend and company came in one night all excited because they saw Bigfoot. It was dark but they swore they saw him, describing him in detail. They even snapped pictures!!!
They were so excited and rushed to have someone at the local college develop them.
wait for it…
wait for it…
When the pictures were developed, it was a cow!
For other stupid stories, my father and mother still like to tell the story when UFO’s were seen around the community. I was 4-5 years old and they saw a group of people standing at a corner looking up. They looked up and saw the UFO and they were pointing at it and it was supposedly moving slowly/hovering. They said I looked up and couldn’t see it. Since it was so big, the people couldn’t understand why I didn’t see it. They kept pointing at it and I kept looking confused until I said “You mean the Moon?”
I guess everyone was real embarrassed. It was a windy, mostly cloudy day with the clouds moving fast. I still don’t see how they couldn’t recognised the MOON for heaven’s sake! It goes to show you how easily people are fooled by their senses, especially when they want to be.
