All the more serious candidates have been purged from the party, and the less serious ones have been fighting over who gets to do the purging.
For the last 16 years, the only winning move was not to play.

Romney could eliminate the possibility of Trump victory by just running in a few states — Utah, Nevada and a few swing states, e.g. Iowa and New Hampshire. (It wouldn’t matter that he couldn’t win any of these states except Utah: throwing them to Hillary is good enough.)
Now, Trump could win Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, but it won’t be enough without Virginia. The decision would be tossed to the House of Reps.
But that won’t happen. For Romney to run at all, let alone for the GOP House to ignore the voters’ will and give the Presidency to a man who wins only Utah really would mean the disintegration of the GOP.
Bill Kristol? Really? Why does anyone take anything he says seriously at this point? The only valid response to anything Bill Kristol proposes is laughter.
We are talking about the guy who played Miracle Max, right?
Yeah, and Bernie Sanders could win Dancing With The Stars. I mean, sure, maybe he’s more flexible than we thought, but let’s not forget that this is The Bill Kristol Is Full of Shit Thread.
Kristol should have realized that Jill Stein has been in the race for a while now. She seems to be gaining momentum in New England now that Bernie’s campaign is winding down.

Johnson/Weld is the *de facto *alternate choice for staunch NeverTrump Republicans who just can’t bring themselves to vote Hillary or stay home – there isn’t going to be another one arising this late in the election cycle.
I was going to say that he probably is talking about Johnson/Weld, since they are both Republicans with better street cred than Trump. I know that I am voting Libertarian in November, and I actually know a few other disgruntled Republicans that are going to follow.
