[It says so right here.](http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa022801a.htm) I pride myself in not falling for urban legends. But for the longest time I thought Bill Nye died of cancer a year or so ago. That was until I found out he’s doing a show on Noggin. He’s not dead. I thought I’d spread the good news. Soooooo. Who else fell for some stupid urban legend? Nobody? I’m the only dupe? Or are you all just too embarrassed to admit it? ---

Never heard the rumor, are we sure they weren’t talking about his career? And Beakman was way cooler, he had Lester, Liza, and company to back him up. Nye just had those kids who couldn’t get on _Reading Rainbow_. Beakman made me laugh and taugh me stuff, Nye just reminded me of the chemistry professor I had in college who wore his lab coat everywhere, even when you saw him out in public. ---

Bill Nye used to come into my (well not really mine, but you know what I mean) to buy supplies for some of his experiments that he did back when he was on Almost Live. He was VERY interested in anything science, but his biggest love was astronomy. He even bought a book for us when we should some interest . When we moved from Seattle I taped a couple of episodes so I could still relive the experience every once in a while. ---

Well, I would have been very surprised to learn that he died a year ago, considering that we saw him walking up Roosevelt Way about six months ago. Shocked and astonished at experiencing a Bona Fide Celebrity Sighting in humble Seattle, neither MrWhatsit or I said anything. We just pretended not to notice and went on our merry way. ---
