This is quite possibly one of the lamest arguments I have yet encountered from you, and that is saying a lot. Since when do recruiters come to high schools to enduce girls into getting abortions? :wally

But… but… why would al Qaeda want to attack a liberal place like SF? I thought us leftists were their biggest allies. 😕

Many places will offer money for college, but that doesn’t mean they have anything to do with education, only with paying for it. (Which, by the way, any job can do if they give you money that you then use to pay for college. Is McDonalds an educational business because they offer you training and you can take your paycheck and invest it in school?)

You said it has nothing to do with education. No one said it was educational institution. Quit moving the bar as you backpedal. If McDonalds had an educational program or financial aid package like the military then I would say they _should_ be invited to every highschool in the country.

Just because the job being hustled offers money for college does not mean that the hustle itself is educational. You’re making a stupid point. As usual.

Your inability to understand rather simple points aint my fault, I’m afraid.

I was quite clear what my view was, here, I’ll quote it again for you:

> [@FinnAgain](#):
>
> Training in the tools of war doesn’t satisfy my definition of education, nor does offering money for college. Many places will offer money for college, but that doesn’t mean they have anything to do with education, only with paying for it

I would also point out that the original quote of mine you took issue with was:

> [@AFAIKnow](#):
>
> > [@FinnAgain](#):
> >
> > John Mace: Why shouldn’t Cali be able to accept federal funds for education, while prohibiting something on campus which has no educational function?
>
> Sure it does. One of the main reasons people join out of highschool is for education, training, and federal financial aid.

So it would seem that you are, after all, the one guilty of shifting the goalposts. Unless you’re honestly going to claim that giving someone money is an ‘educational function’.

If, as seems likely, you’re being obtusely hyper-literal, than virtually _anything_ can have ‘something’ to do with education, either by virtue of getting a paycheck which can pay for education, learning skills on the job which one did not previously know, etc…

> [@AFAIKnow](#):
>
> If McDonalds had an educational program or financial aid package like the military then I would say they _should_ be invited to every highschool in the country.

I’d like to think that schools can invite who they choose to their career fairs.

Maybe I mistook those lines and understood them meaning what they actually said. _Mea Culpa_.

The military doesn’t “just give money”. I honestly cannot believe that you compare military training and experience with flipping bugers or even managing a resteraunt.

I can hardly think of a job position where a military background wasn’t a plus. In some it is virtually invaluable. (law enforcement, aircraft mechanic, etc.)

So you wouldn’t mind if Principal O’Mally invited the local Seminary to do a little soul searching in his school?

Oh so cute, except you’re deliberately ignoring that I stated clearly that my definition dealt with something that had an “educational function.”, and went on to define what I did not consider to have that function. And by the way, if you continue to debate in bad faith I will simply ignore the rest of your posts in this thread.

Besides, you bolded the two lines bracketing exactly what I said I did **not** consider to be part of ‘education’. You claim to have read what I actually said, but then you deliberately ignore it in order to cherry pick lines of text? Good show.

That’s awfully nice, and you are again shifting the goalposts.
Going to a military **college** is not the same thing as being recruited into the army.

Moreoever, by your own claims, most people recruited don’t go into tech fields, making the substance of your argument intellectually barren.

> [@AFAIKnow](#):

Are you just arguing for argument’s sake? It sure seems like it to me.

Anyways… cute, again, spunky. But no, I’m sorry, that’d most likely be illegal.
So to head you off at the pass, no, they also shouldn’t invite the Crips and Bloods to recruit members, or columbian drug lords, or Al Queda, either.

Hijacking the hijack back to Bill O’Reilly:

I heard that the transcript of his show has been doctored and his offensive comments about San Francisco removed.

Who are you going to believe – the transcript on the web or the tape you see every hour on MSNBC?

But maybe I’m looking [in the wrong place.](http://www.billoreilly.com/), as I can’t seem to find a transcript that O’Reilly put out. Do you have a cite **Zoe**?

I’d half like to believe that you just heard a rumor, as not even O’Reilly could be dumb enough to try to change something that’s already on public record. But maybe he is that dumb and dishonest? A cite would be nice, I think that a half hour of searching the 'net entitles me to ask for one 😃

I did my own searching before checking your links. My own searches sent me, of course, to the very links that you provided.

My original source was _Countdown_ with Keith Olbermann on November 11. The transcript of that show making the claim about the FoxNews transcript being doctored won’t be out until Monday afternoon. But at best, it will be only a claim since now there is no transcript for O’Reilly on Nov. 10 at all.

I did find this little wisp of a “might-have-been” source while doing a Yahoo Search on " “The O’Reilly Factor” transcript “Nov. 10”:

> [@](#):
>
> No. 14. Oh Really Oh Reilly Nov. 10, 2005–For more than two … Do they watch FOX’s ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ where the anchor … FOX deleted that passage from their transcript of the program …

But when I click on the link, the mention of a deleted passage has been removed. Maybe Bill threatened to sue. After all, how can there be a deleted passage when there is no transcript?

It will be interesting to see what _Countdown’s_ transcript looks like on Monday.

I was able to read the transcript before it disappeared, and O’Reilly did in fact say that all the terror lovers in San Francisco deserved to be targeted by terrorists. I didn’t think to save it (bad on me). I would think, if Fox and O’Reilly are so “patriotic” and so “in the right”, they’d insist on keeping the whole screed online and intact. Guess not. I mean, if you really believe in what you say, you stand by it and want everyone to see it for as long as possible.

No one goes to schools and tries to solicit pregnant girls to get abortions. There is a diffrence between a kid seeking out a recruiter on his own and being fucking stalked by them at school. There there are also a host of other issues involved with reproductive and patient confidentiality rights that do not come into play at all with the recruiting issue. You don’t have a point and you’re also off topic. The point of this thread is that Bill O’Reilly publicly invited terrorists to attack an American city because he doesn’t like the way they voted on a ballot initiative.

I think this whole debate is in bad faith. It seems to me it is just another anti war rant. The military has always offered high school graduates either an alternative or stepping stone to higher education. Read my links. More people join tech fields than combat specialties.
