But you can call a local store and ask for items to be picked up. Arrange a pick-up time and they’ll come to your car with the goods. The downside is that you don’t get to wander around and sniff all there is to sniff and that’s my favorite part of shopping there. But crikey, I’m almost out of cinnamon!
Yeah, I put in an order (free cinnamon, score!) and got a phone call about an hour later that it was ready to pick up. Since the store is like fifteen minutes from me I just moseyed on over, called from the parking lot and they put it out front on a little table.
Excerpts from Bill’s latest letter:
…We are also done with going along to get along with Republican nonsense. It’s been five years since Donald Trump took over the Republican Party and there is no sign the cavalry is coming or any sense of anyone within the party moving to take on his racism, lies, corruption and cruelty. America and the world have real problems that can’t wait any longer to be addressed. With any decency or integrity that the Republican Party of sixty years ago long gone, today it is little more than a protection racket taking kickbacks from those massively profiting off of making our problems unsolvable. It’s time to move on.…
It seems I can’t ask you to buy our gift cards without Fox and the rest accusing me of begging. So please, please don’t buy our [2-$25 Choose Love Gift Cards for just $35] that have no fees and no expiration dates . Please pay no attention to the media machines of the right coming together in unison to aim their echo machine at us out of a desire to drive us into bankruptcy, or to the anger and rage and hurt they are directing towards our frontline employees. Strike that. On that one I’m not too proud to beg. Please-please show our workers extra love. They don’t deserve the hurt Fox puts out into the world. No one does. It’s what we are doing all this to end.
And regularly $3.95 [Galena Street] and $5.29 [Arizona Dreaming] for only $2 each with the entirety of those $2 being split between the national Black Lives Matter organization and Milwaukee’s own BLOC. After our Dr. King Weekend $2 giveaway promotion we were able to send checks to both BLM and BLOC of $21,276 each.

Go, Bill!
My gifts cards (and pepper) have just been shipped.
With Mexican Oregano, if you live somewhere with Mexican spice purveyors, just look for “oregano.” It is usually, if not always, Mexican oregano. Almost every grocery in Chicago has Mexican oregano.
Today’s missive:
Be Outraged. There will be a time to see the silver lining in the “Supreme” Court’s Friday theft of women’s rights. They have finally exposed how incredibly corrupt and dangerous they have become. They have awoken a sleeping giant. There will be a time to harvest what they’ve sown, but that time is not now. Now is the time for simple, pure, honest outrage. Be Outraged.
And it’s not that they’ve just corrupted Justice, it’s also that they corrupted Jesus to make their corruption of Justice possible. Jesus preached everything at the heart of cooking. Feeding the hungry. Taking care of the sick. Opening our doors to refugees. He never once said a word about the abortions and birth control that saved the lives of so many women in his day.
That Republicans have removed the actual teachings of Christ from Christianity and are instead using his church to promote the notion that once a sperm enters a woman’s body it becomes a sacred obligation for her to carry is about as wrong as wrong can be. That they’ve managed to use their control of his church to twist it into little more than an infomercial for tax cuts for the rich and denial of health care for the poor is an honest-to-God abomination.
Seriously, Be Outraged!
Keep being outraged! And dammit, do what you can about it.
Aside, I usually keep this stuff to myself but feel the need to speak on this subject.
