Just listened to an interview of BillyBob Thornton on a CBC show called “The Q” What a curious interview. The interviewer does a nice intro of the Band the Boxmasters and the band members At first, BBT sounded to me to be stoned. The interviewer asked him when the band first got together. He says “I don’t know what you mean.” The interviewer clarified. BBT seemed confused by the simple question. After a question to all the band members about their musical influences, he asked BBT. BBT did not understand the question. He then launched into a rambling story of a comic book he liked as a child. When the interviewer tries to get the interview on track, it becomes apparent that BBT was just indulging himself in some passive-aggressive bullshit because he was miffed that the interviewer had DARED to mention in the intro that BBT was an actor and screenwriter in addition to being majorly involved in the music scene. How insulting! BBT then comes up with some classics that reveal the extent of his enormous ego: “would you ask Tom Petty that?” (the interviewer was generous. I would have replied at that point “no, because he’s a musician, and you are shitel”) “I’ve pretty much always been a music historian”. What an egotistical dick-knob. This is almost embarrassing to watch. Does he really think his band would have even got the interview if he wasn’t a famous actor? They sound like any number of dive bar acts I’ve heard. At first I thought he was either high or drunk but it was worse than that, he was just being a petulant whining baby. ---

Wow. I almost thought the interviewer was being “punked,” BBT was being so bizarre. I felt so embarrassed for his band mates. I thought the interviewer did a good job in a tough situation, however, in calling him out without being too confrontational. ---

I can’t figure out if his band mates are embarrassed by him or just equally stand-offish. Or if they’re all on the same drug. And yeah, I believe if someone were going to interview him about his voice acting, his music just might come up. ---

I think the guy on the right is hugely embarrassed and pretty nervous - about four minutes in I thought his voice was noticeably cracking. I just don’t think they’re particularly used to answering most of the questions. Thought the host handled it pretty well, all told. Not sure I could’ve resisted a snarky parting shot. Doesn’t look like the performance will have missed [his drumming](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7iHaCfQEn8) much, either. ---
