Last time I checked GQ, I saw somebody opened a new Billy Joel thread there, in an attempt to keep the civil discussion away from the G. Nome bullshit. While double threads normally are frowned upon, I can certainly see the validity of that in this case. Joel in GQ, G. Nome in the Pit. It just feels… more _natural_, you know? ---

Whew!! [totally out of breath from running] There, I’ve now read my way through this ENTIRE THREAD, after having missed it yesterday because of apparent server problems, and I am ABSOLUTELY COMPELLED to say (yes, I’m shouting, I know): **SINCE WHEN HAS “BREAD IN MY JAR” _EVER_ BEEN A EUPHEMISM FOR ANAL SEX?** I mean, only if you have an absolutely filthy mind that is 24/7 searching for ways to combine “putting something” with “into something” and have it come up as “anal sex.” Put roses in my vase, baby. Put popcorn in my bowl. I thought that 'way back on Page 1, and I still think it. I’ve been listening to that song since, what, 1975? 1978? And I NEVER ONCE thought it meant “anal sex”. Duh. It means “put money in the big brandy snifter on the piano”. No matter that the word “bread” may (or may not) have some kind of AIDS/HIV connotation now (does it? 😕 ) , when the song was written, the lyric meant, “They put tips in my jar and ask me what a talented pianist like myself is doing in a joint like this”. Geez. G.Nome’s remark was incomprehensible, and Manny should have let it slide as completely beyond hope. Now tell me I lead a sheltered life…grrr… :mad: ---

**DDG** , while I may or may not have a sick mind, a crude reference to anal sex and the AIDS quilt were exactly what came to mind when I read **G. Nome** ’s post. While Billy Joel certainly didn’t mean it that way, nor did “bread in my jar” ever in history refer to anal sex, when its coupled with a not-so-vague reference to the AIDS quilt it seemingly cannot mean anything else but that. However, if it wasn’t meant as such, a simple “That’s not what I meant” would have sufficed, as **manny** had repeatedly said and given opportunity for. As such, **G. Nome** ignored this opportunity and pranced around the subject, wasting a great deal of people’s time. ---

Anal sex IS filthy, by it’s very essence. Just because **Manhattan** and **Coldfire** like to put things up their anuses doesn’t mean it isn’t queer, in every respect. Face it guys, it’s not normal. That’s how it got the name queer to start with. And yes, queer people see everything as a threat to them, which is as it should be. They are still criminals in all reasonable countries. ---

Yeah, I think this thread is pretty much done anyway. Can I close this thread without someone accusing me of being “cranky”, “biased” or “authoritarian”? Probably not, but I’ll get over it.
