It [looks like right-wing radio host Neal Boortz is using McKinney’s misbehavior as an excuse to be a racist,](http://mediamatters.org/items/200603310005) saying things like “she looks like a ghetto slut” and “looks like ghetto trash.” Charming guy. FWIW, this in no way excuses what McKinney did. Even if she _had_ been wearing her pin, she’d have had no justification for punching the cop. But what she did isn’t any justification for this sorta crap either. ---

Why I listen to him, I’ll never know. Well, under the first prong he is [right](http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=racism) Not so much under the second one. I guess it depends on how you define “ghetto”. Is calling someone white trash racist? Personally, this loony has more than enough character flaws that ripping on her apperance isn’t required. ---

If the story’s true as written, McKinney was stupid, careless, and arrogant. Which may indeed put her nicely in line with 90% of the rest of Congress, but that doesn’t matter: when those people commit idiotic, disrespectful or illegal acts, I want 'em to take responsibility for it too. Of course in the big scheme of things, the McKinney mini-scandal is extremely unimportant. Certainly doesn’t affect anyone other than her and the cop.
