There was a farmer had a dog,  
And Bingo was his name-o.  
B-I-N-G-O  
B-I-N-G-O  
B-I-N-G-O  
And Bingo was his name-o.

Was the dog’s name Bingo?

Or the was it the farmer’s name? Hmmm…

The dog.

The nursery rhyme is based on a Scottish drinking song with the line…  
_“The farmer’s dog leapt over the stile, his name was little Bingo.”_ The dog is the object of the sentance.

In early drafts of The Lord of the Rings, Frodo was originally named Bingo. But he wasn’t a farmer and he didn’t have a dog, so I don’t know why I’m mentioning this.

_There was a hobbit had a Ring,_  
_And Bingo was his name-o._
