My birthday was on November 1st. My niece’s baby’s due date was on November 1st. A coworker’s baby was born on November 1st. His father’s name is Gavin. My niece’s son finally arrived on the 3rd. His name is Gavin. Not quite as weird, but Gavin (the Smaller) has the last name of Collins. His mother (who shares a last name with me) has a birthday coming up in February. Another coworker’s baby is due in February. Her married name is Cullen. Her birthday is in November. ---

Yup. I spent most of my life not knowing anyone who shared my birth month, let alone my birth year, other than Winston Churchill. Then I met two Dopers who share my birthday. Then I discovered my SO’s cousin and aunt both have November birthdays. Then my niece was born in November. Then I discovered another birthday Doper in November (that’d be the OP.) Now I am in lots and lots of company. ---

The actual Day occured before sis-in-law was actually sis-in-law–I think just a couple of weeks before the official engagement. ETA: Mom’s fine now. My parents’ birthdays are separated by a year and a week–with Dad being the younger. Not usually a problem, but Mom didn’t like it when Dad filled out the FAFSA (For student financial aid) during that week. It asks for Ages of parents, and she didn’t like being made to look two years older. Also, my grandfather had a “mother’s ring” made for my grandmother. It contained 5 stones–two of which were duplicates–Mom was born the same month her mother was. Still, no big deal. Except, Grandpa couldn’t afford real stones, and so the three children decided to have a ring made with real stones. And to make it less obvious that they were showing off their comparative wealth, they included birthstones for the son-in-law and grandchildren. OK, now we have a ring with 8 stones in it–three identical and 5 unique. Also, two sets of 3 adjacent months–not that that mattered a whole lot. But the number of duplicate stones did make discussing stone placement interesting–at least to the grown-ups. ---

Another November baby checking in. I have the same birthday as Martin Luther, Friedrich Schiller and Richard Burton. (No, not the same year as any of them. 😛 ) My niece is a November baby too. GT ---

Isn’t there some statistical oddity where if you’re in a room with 20 people, at least one pair will have the same birthday?
