So glad to be home! Okay, news on the biopsy front: my appt. is for Aug. 10 at 1 PM. It’s a fine needle biopsy of the thyroid, which has -multiple- nodes. Next week I go in for bloodwork to see if the current thyroid med. level is working or not and also to check for some other stuff (like blood sugar and cholesterol-I’ve been taking my mevacor every day, really!). For some reason, the endo’s nurse hadn’t called me yet to let me know that the needle biopsy had been authorized, but it had been. I wouldn’t have gotten an appt. any sooner, though; they only get about 4 slots a day (wtf?!) and it would have been until August anyway. So I’m just trying to remain positive, and also trying to eat a healthier diet (more fresh fruits & veggies and whole grains and especially healthier snacks - if there be such a thing!). ---

I went up to see Lib today; she was supposed to get out of the hospital Wednesday but there was no answer when I called her house, so I called the hospital. Yep, still there. Turns out they had to take more fluid off of her lungs; this time the doctor decided to leave the drains in and they will go home with her - hopefully in the morning. She is in a bit of pain from the drains but is in good spirits. We did have a entertaining discussion about what she could do with the drain collection bags when she’s dressed - her sister suggested taping them to her legs and I suggested cargo pants. We’ll come up with something. Her breathing is much better with the fluid reduced. The State finally paid Mr. SCL, so I have my RLS pills. I am so happy - and looking forward to a good nights sleep! ---

Today, I suspect was the last of my regular (for summer) 6 hour days. I feel your sympathy pouring out at me, yeah… :dubious: I think next week I’ll have to start working normal hours, which will still be less than the crush of mid-late August and early September, but a full day nonetheless… Tonight is kabobs and my cold pasta/veggie salad. Don’t ask for a recipe, it’s usually whatever I find lying around with rainbow rotinis and italian dressing. This week’s version id red/green peppers, sliced black olives, and 'maters. ---

How do I tell my kid she’s making the biggest mistake of her life by considering marriage to an overgrown adolescent? I fear it will end very badly. Sometimes parenthood sucks. ☹ ---

how old is said kid? how old is kid’s intended? does ki have a steady job? do they make each other happy? It depends on your relationship with the kid, but you shouldn’t **tell** her anything. You can talk about it with her. ask if she’s considered a bunch of what-if scenerios, like what if ki get’s laid off, what if she does. But you have to phrase them in such a way that it doesn’t sound like you’re grilling her (which it kinda did as I was typing it) If you raised her well, and know her to be bascally sound, things will probably work out fine. ---

Awww, **FCM** , that sucks. Kid is levelheaded and has common sense. It’s not like they’re getting married tomorrow, so there’s still time for her to figure this out. As long as she knows it’s OK to back out if that’s what she decides, you won’t need to do much. Also, she might be the good influence that makes him grow up. (You can help point him in the right direction while he’s visiting…) I’m guessing you and FCD get to be available for her to vent to as she’s figuring this out. Not fun, but necessary. Hope everything works out with a minimum of pain. (I’ve been there with a couple of daughter-equivalents; can’t even imagine the stress of having this situation with an actual daughter.) Hugs to **Meeks** and SIL. Glad the throw-uppiness is subsiding, **LiLi**. I can tell you must be feeling better; you’ve been posting more lately. 'Ullo, all. I am back from the dead. Went to work today, not feeling up to snuff–so very, very tired. Just the way I felt before I got pneumonia. I asked them if I could leave early, so I left 90 minutes early and came home and slept for a bit. Felt good. I have been a real bitch to the kids the past two days. Not sure why, but I think some of it is missing Leigh (one twin sis), some of it pneumonia and some of it just sick of being not 100%… We all sound a bit worn in the thread. It was a good party-one of the best I’ve been to recently. Thank you all for coming-and for the fabulous food! Now if we could only get that unknown guest off my couch and–wait a minute. What’s this? Panties and male socks in desk drawer? Hmmmm. :dubious: enjoy your weekends, folks! ---

\*\*rosie \*\* - my kid is 21, about to start her senior year in college, wrapping up degree in elementary education. The fiance is 31, working part time at an Orlando theme park, who wants to be “in radio” but he hasn’t done any research as to what it takes to work in radio. He still lives at home. I don’t know if he ever lived on his own. I know I can’t tell her what to do, nor would I, but I’ve got to tell her what I think, or I couldn’t live with myself. I may not know all the answers, and I certainly haven’t lived an error-free life, but if this relationship doesn’t scream TRAIN WRECK, I don’t know what does. She and I have some errands to run alone tomorrow, so we’ll talk. Maybe love will conquer all, but what I see is a 22 year old bride with a 32 year old child… ---
