> Sounds ridiculous, huh? For kicks, I took a virtual drive through my childhood neighborhood, which experienced racial transition from the mid-1980s through the 1990s, and it now almost entirely African-American. My conclusion? Not always true, but back-in parking is certainly more prevalent in black neighborhoods. Here’s a few random Streetview ploppings:
>
> \<snip\>
>
> I did more Googledriving, and almost every car is pulled into a parking space,

Haha. I never noticed that, but I used to think that black people seem more relaxed behind the wheel. And I associate being relaxed behind the wheel with better driving. A lot of non-blacks tend to grip the wheel tighter and sit up close to the steering wheel.

I realize I was being dumb, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg of dumb shit I thought about white people. I used to think blacks were better at driving drunk, too. I learned the sad way that blacks have no problem drunkenly wrapping their cars around poles when I lost a good friend.

I often back into spots just because I like the little perk of being able to jump in and go after shopping. It only takes a second to whip it into the spot, and when I’m leaving, I don’t have to keep checking for little old ladies pushing their buggies past my car.

PS: I had no idea my choice of shirt color changed my sexual orientation. How do I get back to being straight? I LIKE girls, and don’t think hardly any of them are icky or anything!

I can’t think of any reason for black back-in parking, except maybe that its a holdover from the time when just owning a car was a status symbol. If you’re going to show it off, do it right and display the front end to the world. Also, in urban settings where there’s more pedestrians, it’s safer; there’s less risk of backing into someone on the sidewalk.

I never heard of any stereotypes associated with black drivers. Cars, yes, as with every ethnic group and subculture, but driving patterns, no. Maybe the risk of DWB in certain areas has something to do with it.

FWIW, a coworker who is a fair-skinned white woman wore a bright purple blouse yesterday. I didn’t notice it until she said “I’m in a purple mood today.”

Yeah… because it’s kind of true? I’d actually say this is more of a guy thing.
Unless it is related to a sports team…purple is not a color non-black guys can pull off.

Serious? Dude is fucked up about a lot of things but I didn’t think that was fucked up. It’s a two-way street. I wouldn’t do it for someone who wouldn’t do it for me either. Sometimes this board has me wondering if I’m more accustomed to bullshit than I even thought. That, or you guys are overreacting. Or both, I don’t know.

That has never ever occurred to me and I have no idea if it’s true, but that’s weird. My boyfriend was just saying yesterday that white people like to talk while driving and black people don’t. That also made me say wtf? I was also just asking him why he backs into parking spots but he didn’t say it was because he’s black (and he DOES say that about just about everything).

Girl. Do what I do and just ignore it. I’m not kidding, it really helps me de-stress. If I see a post that takes some bizarre view that I don’t understand, I chalk it up to Straightdopemessagboardeze.

True 😃 Sometimes I’m like whatever, you guys are trippin. Other times I don’t know, because I have no idea how off my baseline is. But, I mean, “if we want to receive, we probably need to start giving too”? That seems reasonable. The only weird part to me was the whole conscious, group-decision thing.

That is a bit weird, but I get it. It’s like when you are dumb kids and there are certain things you think of as acceptable. Those things change over time.

For instance, when I was a teen, we all thought thong underwear was a ‘white girl’ thing and we just didn’t do it. Some of us did, I’m sure, but as a trend, it just wasn’t the thing.

Then, it came into style. R&B stars made songs about it, hip hop artists started going on about it, and before you knew it, black girls were buying thongs like nobody’s biz.

Then, just that fast, it went out of style again. The same kind of dumb thing can happen with ideas about what is cool or not with sex. It’s something we all grow out of.

ETA: As a matter of fact, I can give a Black Girl Sex Trends news report right now…I think, as far as trends go for young women, anal sex is still not ‘cool’. I could be wrong, but I know that is how it was when I was young, and I never did warm up to it!

You can wear whatever color shirt you like and still be straight.

What you _can’t_ do is give any thought to being well dressed or well put together. That’s instant homogayification right there. And yes, we, your fellow straight guys, _will_ notice.

Ha! Reading this, I was about to bring that up before I saw that you did. I don’t like to be a prude, but just omg no about that. I don’t care what race it is or isn’t associated with, it’s just not happening! If I was a less horrible person, I’d say I ask dudes if they’re gay if they press me for it (and in this hypothetical scenario as IRL, I have 0.00% problem with homosexuality, but these assholes kinda do, so I’m actually making fun of them for that, not making fun of gay people). Man…I try to not think it’s just deviant, but on a visceral level I can’t get over it. I know anal sex is the new oral sex, but I’m a fan of the latter but still find the former disgusting.

Well, that’s a little tricky to answer, because consensually no, but I know that could sound like that’s my whole objection, but it’s just not. I’m just not interested. If it was super duper important to a guy I loved, then I guess I might give it another chance. But I have no desire to do it myself.

So your only experience with anal sex is being anally raped? How else is one to interpret you saying that you had never “consentually” had anal sex? Was this just regular rape and not _legitimate_ rape? 😉

A depressing number of men try to “oops!” their way into anal sex. It’s somewhere between real sex and rape in my book. Is there the chance that things got a little too vigorous and slippery and their aim was off? Well, sure, I guess. I have had that legitimately happen once or thrice. But more often, they want to try it but think we’ll say no if they ask, so they, uh, seize the moment, as it were.
(And I do actually enjoy it sometimes, when the mood is right, so that’s another eye roll right there. Ask and I may say yes. “Oops” and the doors are closed, motherfucker.)
