Those are not spares. I need every one of them, and I’m NOT SHARING.

> I’ve always said Amazon needs a blanket “Do Not Recommend” option. That way I could black-list games, certain authors, calenders and other such nonsense from every cluttering my browsing. As it is every time I order something I have to spend the next few days clearing out the bogus recs Amazon sends.

This. This. This. I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, and I’ve rated a lot of SF and fantasy on Amazon. Amazon apparently thinks that every fantasy fan wants to own every book that Robert Jordan churned out, in every edition. No, I do not. I also have no wish to buy or own or read anything by Anne Rice.

I hate more that Amazon emails me about stuff I’ve looked at.

I was mindlessly looking at GPS devices awhile ago. I was only maybe 10% considering buying one for my boyfriend for Christmas and wanted to price check/compare models. I have since abandoned the idea (I am shorter on cash than usual this holiday and the ‘good’ ones are out of my price range, and since he can easily afford a good one himself I went with another idea) and now they WON’T STOP EMAILING ABOUT GARMINS and TOM TOMS

I have been on Amazon browsing a lot trying to get gift ideas so the editing of my browsing history at this point is daunting, but damn the targeted emails to me are worse than them showing me odd stuff I don’t want on the screen.

This should be easy to fix. Go to Your Account on [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com), scroll down to Settings and click “E-mail Preferences & Notifications” under the “E-mail from Amazon” heading. On the next page, select the radio button next to “Do not send me marketing e-mail” and click the “Save” button. Alternatively, you can select the type of marketing e-mail you may want to receive from the category list above that option.

I was looking at Snuggie-like wearable blankets and Amazon assumed that I might also like Bacon Mayonnaise by the caseload.

Maybe if you eat whole caseloads of bacon mayonnaise, snuggies become the garment of choice!

Their search results are pretty damn bizarre as well, often returning things that are at best _vaguely_ related to what you were searching for. Like, looking for a Blu-ray player and getting extension cords, or something.

The real winner though… there are these large-ish plastic beads used for kids’ crafts. Maybe 8 or so mm across, with a large hole so they can be strung easily on gimp, yarn etc. They’re called pony beads.

I needed red ones for a Scout event.

Doing a search for “pony beads red” right now turns up mostly-related stuff -either the beads themselves, other beads, or other beaded accessories. The book “Saltwater Flies of the Northeast” is pretty strange, of course… “Native American Saddlery” book I can see - horses and ponies wear saddles and they might even be decorated with beads.

However… when I was looking for these originally a couple of years ago… let’s just say that one of the items on the first page of results would NOT have been an acceptable choice for the Girl Scouts. Firstly because they only two left in stock, and secondlyeven if we had been working on an Animal Care badge, I _really_ don’t think the girls were all that interested in trying out red plastic butt-plugs, even if they _did_ have genuine horsehair tails!

Heh - I once watched an episode of Good Eats where Alton made an apple pie using an unusual spice that even Penzey’s didn’t carry (Grains of Paradise). I looked for it on Amazon - and sure enough it also suggested a pie bird, and a tart pan with a removable bottom - the exact same things Alton used. Clearly someone else watched the same show I did 🙂

So how much is a box of red rubber clown noses and do you have any left?

I browsed the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Swiss Army knives, and the books _The Heroin Diaries_ and _Wonderland Avenue_, both of which are about hard-core heroin addictions. Amazon must think I’m a crazy, strung out, suicidal junkie.

Not necessarily. You could be a drug-abuse counselor (or studying to be one) who likes to go camping. 🙂

Today’s funny:I wanted to do a search for dry measures / dry measuring cups.

First I tried “dry measure”. Most of what I saw was at least cooking-related, though the razor was a bit of a surprise until I noticed the term “dry” in its description.

When I tried “dry measuring”… item 1 and 3 were sets of measuring cups. Item 3 was an Epson all-in-one wireless printer/scanner. Oooookay.

Scrolling on down, I see a cookbook, a metal measuring _tape_, a **pressure gauge** , and - of course - another razor! (not to mention another printer). Bizarro.

I was on Amazon yesterday looking at beer-making kits for my brother-in-law and bath toys for my toddler niece. Can’t wait to see what they suggest for me next!

Like when vaginal fisting, maybe? It could work.
