I don’t think you quite get it, Colibri. It wasn’t junior modding because I wasn’t saying some rule was violated; I was just giving my opinion. However the last bit you quoted and what I was so lucky not be warned over was perfectly correct, IMHO. In the dictionary’s humble opinion as well. What you were “so lucky to not be be warned over” was deliberately ignoring a moderator’s instructions not to bring it up again in ATMB. It had nothing to do with what the exact connotation of the word was. [/QUOTE] No you obviously misunderstand the situation because it is not irrelevant and I wasn’t continuing anything that Skip had warned me against, despite the fact that the word “whine” occurred in both threads. I was not criticizing DSYoung, I was pointing out a semantic Pet Peeve of mine. He thought that “whine” was a matter of fact description about complaints, I pointed out that that is an incorrect usage and that the word has negative connatations. But hey, if you think he stepped over the line, feel free to give him a warning, but I didn’t think his misunderstanding warranted reporting the post. No need to apologize or admit mistake, I know that’s tough. You can just let it quietly drop and I’ll understand. ---

And I would add to **Liberal’s** comment a suggestion that when you are Moderating, use some _moderation_. You can be very firm and assertive without being aggressive. You don’t have to use loaded and vicious words when you are explaining to someone why she or he is getting a warning or is out of line. I have no dog in this hunt and have not read the details of the quarrel. But I don’t need to look up the words in a dictionary to know that _complain_ and _whine_ mean virtually the same thing, but _whine_ has a much more unpleasant connotation. Humiliation is not useful for the purpose of motivation. **To the contrary.** To the best of my knowledge, I have no problems with either of the mods involved. ---
