I don’t know if any Dopers in the affected areas will be able to see this, but CNN and AP are reporting blackouts all over the northeastern U.S. CBS was just showing footage of thousands of people walking home in Manhattan, and I assume something similar is taking place in other cities.

There’s not much in the way of details right now, but I’m sure [www.cnn.com](http://www.cnn.com) will be updating as it unfolds. Let’s hope it’s nothing. Anyone on the scene have details?

I just put on a local news station ([WTOP](http://www.wtop.com)); a fire in a ConEd plant is currently being blamed for starting a chaing reaction.
