The [TV Shows Only You Remember](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/tv-shows-only-you-remember/946022) thread has a lot of ‘blasts from the past’. Rather than remember obscure TV shows as in the other thread, let’s talk about things – songs, movies, TV shows, commercial jingles… anything – that we’ve recently been reminded of. In my basement office, I can only receive Jazz (KNKX - Seattle). I’m not fond of Jazz, so I plugged the iPod into the clock radio. I think the newest songs on it are from 1996. Maybe 1997. And there are plenty of oldies; one of which is GPC by Third Wave Ska band Insatiable. He wants the pack in a sack, and he wants to pay for them with a $100 bill. (Note GPCs were about the cheapest cigarettes you could get in the '80s.) I wondered whatever happened to GPC cigarettes, so I googled them. I found a page selling them for $28/carton. Who knew this quasi-generic brand would still be around after 30 years? ---

As a child, I remember my older sister listening to this song all the time. Back in the 90s, it took me years to figure out the artist. Just recently I was looking through a thumb drive full of MP3’s and rediscovered it.
