Oops - my turn to apologize - I didn’t see the apology.

Do you look at the paper every single wipe before you know you’re clean? I don’t and I have only slightly worse than 20/20 vision. I don’t have ass hair which might complicate the answer a bit, but it’s easy to feel the difference between a poopy rectum and a clean one. At least it is to me.

Or, a bidet.

> Being blind creates some difficulties that sighted people don’t have. After reading this thread, I was curious whether there was a common way that this problem was solved. Obviously, there will be some variation in solutions, but I don’t personally know any blind people and even if I did, it’s not something I would ask them.

Stop. Seriously. Please.

The OP seemed to put all blind people into one group, so there is nothing wrong with driving home the point that there is no answer that can be given for ‘blind people’.

Blind people have individual ways of doing things. How do blind people know when their clothes are clean? How do Americans know when their breath stinks? How do Asians know when their feet smell? How do Germans know when they have gunk behind their ears and they are on a crowded train without a mirror?

I think **RitterSport** has a point here - you’re reacting as if this is an unreasonable or prejudiced question. It’s not. This is about how a group that all face a similar problem might solve it (and yes, maybe not all the same way, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a factual answer).

It’s just not similar to most of the other examples you gave.

The oversensitivity displayed in this thread is bizarre.

This is a perfectly valid, if somewhat juvenile question to ask, just like “How do blind people know how much money is in their wallet?”, “How do blind people send email?”, and “How do deaf people know when someone is at their door?”

The answers are likely to vary from person to person, just like pretty much any question about individual behavior, but that’s hardly unusual.

I think the factual aspects of this question have probably been dealt with as well as they can be here without taking a poll of blind people. Since the ensuing discussion has mostly been speculative for has focused on the merits of the question itself, it’s probably better to close this.
